A little help with your hours.
Record a shift
Tap Add hours. Set the work date, clock-in and clock-out times, and an unpaid break. Turn on Ends next day for an overnight shift. Review the total, then save. Overnight hours belong to the starting date.
Match your pay period
Choose Weekly, Biweekly, Semimonthly (1st–15th and 16th–month end) or Monthly on the home screen. For weekly or biweekly pay, set Settings → Your schedule → Period starts on to the first day of any actual pay period. Use the arrows to view earlier periods.
Reuse a shift with Pro
Open an entry and choose Save as a reusable shift. Name it, then open Saved shifts from the home screen to reuse it. You get a draft for today, ready to review and edit. No hours are logged until you save the entry.
Export and keep a backup
CSV exports are free and open in spreadsheet apps. Use JSON backup to transfer records back into Hourpad: Settings → Save backup, then Restore from backup on the destination device. Restore adds missing entries and saved shifts; existing local edits win when IDs match. Keep a backup before changing phones or uninstalling. The app does not provide automatic sync.
Overtime and pay
Hours & pay on the home screen splits each period into regular hours, overtime (1.5×) and double time (2×). Hourpad asks for your state on first launch; change it in Settings → Pay & overtime. Most states follow the federal rule (overtime after 40 hours in a workweek). California, Alaska and Nevada add overtime after 8 hours in a day and Colorado after 12; California adds double time after 12 hours; California and Kentucky have seventh-day rules. Alaska asks whether your employer has 4 or more employees and Nevada whether you earn under $18.00 an hour. Workweeks start on the weekday of Period starts on, and each workplace counts its own overtime. With Pro, add an hourly rate per workplace to see estimated gross pay before taxes. Overtime and double-time rates default to 1.5× and 2× and can be changed. Your pay stub is the final word.
PDF and workplace reports
Choose the period on the home screen, then open Hours report. With Pro, select a workplace and export PDF. PDF omits notes; CSV includes them. These reports show the clock hours you entered and the overtime split, not employer-verified payroll.
Manage or restore Pro
Open Settings → Restore purchases using the same Apple Account. To cancel, open Settings → Manage subscription, or your iPhone Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel Pro. Your recorded history, CSV and backups stay free when Pro ends.
Missing records or an unreadable file?
Check the displayed period first. Do not uninstall the app. If the app reports it cannot open the saved file, use Settings → Restore from backup with a previously exported JSON file. The recovery process preserves the unreadable original on the device. Without a backup, we cannot recover records from a server because we do not store them there.
